Dakota Communications Center uses a County-wide community notification system designed to quickly alert targeted areas of the public of emergencies that may affect their health or welfare. This system is capable of sending up to 60,000 calls per hour. In addition to hard-wire home phones that are automatically registered, Residents and Businesses in Dakota County can use the Dakota Communications Center website to self-register their cellular and other contact telephone numbers, along with email addresses, they would like alerted in the event of an emergency in the area of their Dakota County residence or business.
To self-register additional contacts click on “register” provided in the Community Notification drop-down at the top of this page.
Dakota Communications Center is currently going through a product upgrade. Please contact the Dispatch Supervisor at 651/322-8646 if you are having any issues registering. Your name and contact information will be collected and Troy Ruby, Supervisor in charge of the Mass Telephone Notification System will get back to you at his earliest convenience to assist you with your registration. Again, this is a temporary issue we are experiencing during the upgrade.
